V1 Analytical adds two defense giants as partners

Gordon England and Ray Kozen Accept Advisory Roles in Start-Up Intel and Aviation Services Provider

ARLINGTON, VA – V1 Analytical (, a Washington, DC based Intelligence, Aviation, and Defense Policy consulting company has added Gordon England and Ray Kozen as senior members of its Advisory Board. Together England and Kozen have more than 90 years of national security and defense experience; each bringing a keen understanding and a wealth of insight to this new Service-Disabled Veteran Owned startup.

“Having both Gordon and Ray onboard adds a dimension of wisdom and know-how that complements the currency and energy that you get with a startup,” says V1 CEO Sam Harris, “I feel like a young Quarterback who just got Johnny Unitas and Roger Staubach as my coaches.”

England, who was most recently the Deputy Secretary of Defense for President George W. Bush and before that the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security and Secretary of the Navy, comes from a defense business background, having led numerous Companies and Groups at Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics.

Kozen spent 23 years in the defense business at General Dynamics - retiring as Corporate Vice President and Officer. He left General Dynamics to embark on a follow-on career in investment banking with BB&T Capital Markets / Windsor Group in 2003. After Windsor Group, Kozen took a Managing Director position at Porton Capital Washington; a venture capital firm. “I was attracted to V1 because of the quality of the people and their unique business model in addressing the changing defense sector.”

England and Kozen will join Harris and V1 co-founder Ralph Cacci, to advance V1’s intelligence, aviation, and defense policy support for government customers.

“The increase in irregular challenges to U.S. security and the shift toward enhancing Irregular Warfare capabilities means that companies like V1, with recent real-world experience in counter-terrorism and counterinsurgency are more needed than ever,” says Kozen. “These guys know what they’re doing because all of them have served overseas and conducted these types of missions.”
